Coniston Park Coppice

  • Park Gate, Coniston, Cumbria, LA21 8LA September 2013 5 No wifi access on part of site (if that's important to you - but even as a geek, I coped) Yes Yes Caravan Club site 101+ Yes No Yes 5 Yes 5 Yes Yes Follow the suggested route for best access, it's a bit tight & twisty around Torver but even as a novice tower, it didn't cause me any issues. Final access is from a slightly larger A road and it's a nice wide entrance with two way traffic down into the site's one-way system so no bottlenecks. 2miles approx in Coniston (Co-Op & Spar) 5 Yes, very. The wardens are always bobbing around in golf buggies & I saw no litter or mess. 5 Yes Just like the rest of the Lakes http://www.caravanclub.co.uk/caravanclubapps/applications/uk-caravan-sites-and-parks/SiteDetails.aspx?csid=21956 https://www.caravantalk.co.uk/community/uploads/monthly_09_2013/ccs-54314-0-75471200-1379600601.jpg
It's a lovely site, very much in keeping with the Lakes, lots of individual pitches and small glades with space for 3 or 4 and then some larger areas. All very green & leafy as you'd expect. Far nicer than some of the 'open plan' sites we drove past.

Friendly vibe & spotless facilities

We are staying here at the moment (late Nov 2016) not many here, lots of Coppicing going on and maintenance but site is great especially now autumn leaves have fallen.

Wardens are great to talk to oniston is a lovely community with lots of little shops and cafes.

This is probably the best time of the year to look at the beautiful lake scenery.

I have mentioned this before, but have a look at Hodges Close. http://www. visitcumbria. com/amb/hodge-close-quarry/

Quite dramatic.

The food here was very good last time I visited. http://www. thechurchhouseinn. com/

No connection to the business.

We were there in November 2016 - lovely place, very clean, great place to stay. There is a bit of a small distance to drive to local amenities and out of season that time of year half the place is closed due to tree maintenance which does offer a small limit to where you can pitch up - but it is very well kept.

We’re here now, hasn’t changed since last here 10 years ago, but if it ain’t broke then don’t fix it!

as mentioned, it’s a nice walk to Coniston, about a mile north along the lake and through farm land, Coniston is nice, unspoiled and well worth a trip , walkers have plenty of choice with varying grades to suit all abilities. Torver to the south ( about a mile) has a couple of good pubs , a decent walk on mostly level ground to get there. The site is on a slope, all are hard standing pitches on slate chip ground, need hard pegs, and pitch sizes vary, mostly defined by trees surrounding. A couple of small play areas for toddlers and as with all club sites the wash facilities are spotlessly clean. The road to/from can narrow at times so care needed on bends but well worth the drive.
