Vitara SZ5 All Grip

Eriba320
  • 2016 Diesel 1.6 Manual 4x4 52 46 1259 85 5 no spare tyre, it is fairly narrow at 1775mm so visibility down the side of the caravan will not be as good as some wider 4x4s. Rear headroom slightly compromised if you go for the panoramic sunroof. The ground clearance is not as tall as the old Vtara @ 185mm 5 I tow a small compact Eriba 320 MTPLM @ 1050kg. The Suzuki has no problems with its 320Nm of torque. Acceleration is excellent, braking is strong and progressive. Overtaking manoeuvres are safe and predictable with a low band torque. Towing MPG is excellent the car is still relatively new and tight but I was averaging 48mpg. No surprises with wind buffeting, it has proved to be a very stable towing platform. 5 The Vitara handles more like a small car than a big SUV, the 4x4 has a sport mode which dramatically alters the engine performance making it more responsive. The body role is nothing like an SUV, it is more like a small hatch back inspiring confidence. The adaptive cruise control makes long motorway journeys more relaxing. Turning circle and visibility is good, parking is very easy with the rear camera and sensors front and back. The car is slightly narrower than most modern cars making it easy to park in tight spaces. 5 If your tall it will be a bit cramped in the back if you opt for the panoramic sun roof. the 1.6 DDI will preform better than the 1.6 petrol for towing. Top tip, if you at a caravan club member you get 20% discount.. 5 it is very easy to live with. The car handles like a small hatch back with all the benefits of a SUV 4x4 5 New Franchised dealer Excellent, very acomadating https://www.caravantalk.co.uk/community/uploads/monthly_12_2016/ccs-54822-0-89662400-1482869951.jpg Yes
Adaptive cruise control, predictive braking (not to be used whilst towing) very stable in windy conditions and at motorway speeds. It has very good all round visibility, nice driving position. Seats very supportive, controls are all reachable, especially if like me you have short arms. Reversing camera is excellent for reversing to the van, and parking sensors front and back makes it a doddle to park. Very tight turning circle. Boot is good, I am able to get my porch awing sideways in the boot. All round disk brakes with Hill descent assist available if required.

This might well be a contender for when the Sorento goes back at the end of next year as we'll be using the Navara as towing barge. My only concern is whether the ride is choppy fore n aft. We had a Jimny for a while, great little car, would run rings round Land Rovers off road but on road the ride could be best described as pitching from front to back or as I call it 'choppy', We nearly had an SX4 a while back but beloved struggled with the gearchange.

Nice review by the way!

I am a big fan of Suzuki, I have had four Jimnys which were fantastic off road, however because of its small wheel base on tarmac they were a bit like flying a Tiger moth biplane. The new Vitara is miles away from the choppy Jimny ride, they handle more like small hatchback with very little roll into the corners and no pitching front and back.

Try one, you'd be surprised how good they are off road, they only fall down if the ruts left by big cars get too deep and they bottom out.

A Jimny running rings round a Land Rover off road has got to be the best laugh of 2016 :D

My son used to race off-roaders. He used RangeRover based vehicles. I have watched Suzuki Vitara's and Jimmy's perform way better than LandRovers across ground which I would only attempt with a tracked vehicle. Them little Suzi's are OK!
