  • 2012 Diesel 2.0L Automatic Estate 58 30 2180 75 5 The Sat Nav is slow and out of date so I tend to use Google Maps on my phone. 4 Having only towed a few times with this car and having no previous experience I'm probably not the right person to judge. All I can say is that the car towed our 1200Kg van without any problems or dramas and within 20 or so miles of towing I felt quite a ease.<br /><br />The car has both cruise control and speed limiter so I generally use either one to ensure I stay within the 60MPH limit. 5 The car is great to drive, it has a 2.0 Litre diesel engine which puts out 163BHP, the tiptronic gearbox is a pleasure to use and very flexible as you can manually change gears when you want. <br /><br />Stay clear of the 1.6 model with electronic gearbox as it's awful. 5 Towbar fitting can be expensive (£500+) because the electrics are complicated and need a software update and the fitter will recommend a detachable so it doesn't interfere with the reversing sensors.<br /><br />I opted for a 13 pin socket with an adapter to go to 2 x 7pin sockets because I'm assuming one day we'll buy a caravan fitted with the newer 13 pin plug and the adapter will no longer be required.<br /><br />Also, if I were buying this car again I would choose the 6 speed manual gearbox as that has a towing limit of 1790KG whereas the auto is only 1475KG. 5 The keyless entry is great but the electronic hand brake takes a little getting used to. The boot space is very big and if you put the seats down it's massive. 5 Used Privately We bought the car privately from an elderly couple who were great and had looked after the car very well. Yes

I cannot comment on the 508 SW's towing ability as I have yet to get that far. I have a 508 SW 6 speed manual with 163 bhp HDi engine with SatNav and full length glass roof which is a real pleasure to drive. Best Pug of all for me after 6 other Pugs. The Cruise Control and Speed Limiter are both very useful especially for not exceeding the speed limit which is ever so easy to do because of the power. The SatNav is easy to update (Firmware and mapping) by getting the software at the gpsunderground website. Make sure you read the whole of the posts on it (it has the RT6 system) before you try to update as there are a whole load of if's and but's to go through. Up to end 2011 you can only go to 2. 31 Firmware (with re-coding) , I understand, due to the hardware being different after that date. 2. 2 works without recoding. I tow with a 2015 508SW 2. 0 163bhp auto and it is brilliant. I am towing 1369kg which is slightly above the CC 85% of kerb weight but no problem. For me, the auto box makes the tow really comfortable and locking the cruise control control on at 60 makes motorway driving great. I have abandoned the inbuilt satnav for Copilot on my phone which is very good. The car satnav required too much reading whilst driving and too many confusing instructions.

2180 Kg Kerbweight seems a lot to me

 

Yes - That kerbweight quoted in the review is wrong. Kerbweight is more like 1520Kgs which would make vanmike's outfit to be working at 90%.

 

PS: The 2180Kgs is actually the figure for the car's maximum allowable weight.

How do you find the suspension, I have the 140 Sw Active and found the suspension really dropped significantly to the point where grounding part of the trip.
