How To Find Age On Avon Supervan Tyres ?

We've just put a deposit on a 1998 Swift Jura but I can't seem to find an age code on the tyres, and having just had a caravan written off after a blowout/detachment I don't want to risk another.

The tyres look fairly new, but you can't be too careful.

Does anyone know where to find the age on these tyres ?

Cheers

On the walls of the tyres there should be a little box, usually with DOT followed by four digits. The first two will be the month, the second two the year. Unfortunately they don't always mould the number on both sides of the tyre, so you may have to look on the inside face.

It should be for example, 3406. Which is week 34 of 2006.

Date code is only on one side of a tyre.

This is an example. .....3903 is week 39 of 2003

The markings referred to only apply to tyres made since 2000, earlier tyres have a different system

It's an American site but the markings are the same

Only 3 digits used up until 2000. First two are the week and the third is the year from which the decade can be further identified by a 'star' as the fourth character for years between 1990 and 1999.

Murphy's Law dictates that the date mark will always be on the inside wall of a tyre unless it has directional or asymmetric tread when one tyre will have the mark on the outside and the other on the inside.

Hopefully, nobody is running on tyres pre-2000!

But a close inspection by a tyre fitter found no defects at all. Makes you think
