Water Switch On Abbey

help please,

we have an abbey 1995 van the switch that turns on water pump lights red when the water is running,but when the tap is turned off the light stays on. tried turning the valve down no joy. wondering if its the switch or any advise what to try next. thank you.

IS the pump still running? You say you turned down the switch, i presume you mean pressure switch. My Abbey had micro switches in the taps.

no ours hasnt the micro switches and when you turn the tap off the the red light stays on which means the pump hasnt gone off. think ive explained ths right.

Under the seats(usually) near where the water comes into the van, there will be a pressure switch See photo. This may be broken or needing adjustment. Turning clockwise will increase the pressure required to cut the pump off. SO you need to turn it anti-clockwise slowly until the pump stops. Once you have done this the taps should operate the pump only when open.

 

Also can you hear the pump running?

hello again thanks for your reply weve tried that already we think the switch might be broken. going to a caravan shop tomorrow see if we can solve it. thanks again for your time.

thanks for your help we now have it working with a little bit of tender care.

So what was the problem? If you let us know it makes us all a little bit wiser for the future :)

we think that a wire had come loose, and as my hubbys words was he thinks when he was trying to turn the little switch you have to get it spot on for the red light to go off. thanks for all you advise ready to go again now.
