JamesF
Hi people; I've discovered that the water that's dripping into the lower toilet compartment is from a poorly sealed Waterfill unit between the "inlet" and the main water container. The single "O" ring on the tube hardly makes any contact, certainly not enough to seal the two units. This means that condensation runs down the outside of the unit and into the main (lower) compartment where the "cassette" lives. I've tried with extra mastic but it didn't work! so now I want to replace the worn and old O ring but can't find what size it is without taking it all to bits again!! I though that there may be someone out there who knows ?? DeeTee
From your description the only reference that I can find is to a complete assembly which contains the O-ring.
JamesF
From your description the only reference that I can find is to a complete assembly which contains the O-ring. Hi - thanks but that's the water SUPPLY pipe rather than the Waterfill unit pipe/connection . ( item 27 on the Thetford exploded diagram) I believe that it's about an 80mm inside diameter O ring of about 4 or 5 mm diameter cross section but not sure. I suppose I'll have to take it all off and measure it, thought someone might have one "spare" who could measure it. Then I could get one and do it all in one go Jim Quote "keep your motor running" caravan: Avondale Avocet ( 2006) - tow car: Renault Laguna (2007) - play car: Mercedes 300SL (1988)
TonyJover
Is the ring on the inner (furthest from the outside) groove? If not that could be your problem.
JamesF
Is the ring on the inner (furthest from the outside) groove? If not that could be your problem. It WAS on the inner one I put it on the outer one BUT it hardly makes contact with the tank. The installation instructions state contact Thetford if the wall is over 40mm ( mine is about 40mm) so I've emailed them BUT no answers yet. As one option I was going to replace the existing ring as I believe that it's well worn/slightly perished and this might improve it a bit. WispMan
When you get to it, 'O' rings are listed commercially as Outside Diameter x ring diameter. For example an O ring specified as 90 x 5, has an outside diameter of 90mms, a ring of diameter 5 and therefore an internal diameter of 80mms. Hope this may help. JamesF
That's useful info WM - I've learnt another new thing today me too - because eBay tend to list many of them as "80mm ID" which I took to be "Inside Diameter" cheers Jim Quote "keep your motor running" caravan: Avondale Avocet ( 2006) - tow car: Renault Laguna (2007) - play car: Mercedes 300SL (1988)
WispMan
ID is inside and OD is outside, so its always best to work out what a supplier means. There are many O ring suppliers online. I have used Simply Bearings a few times and found they offer a great service. http://simplybearings. co. uk/shop/Seals-O+Ring+Seals-NITRILE+O-Rings/c19_4501_4705/index. html Quote Graham Unless otherwise stated all posts are my personal opinion
Paul_B
James how did you get on with the "O" ring replacement, I seem to have the same problem with my filler tube. The only parts I seem to be able to sorce is the full assembly Quote Paul B . .......Mondeo Estate & Elddis Avanté 505 (Tobago)
Paul_B
Update on the water filler leaking at the "O"-ring, I've replaced the "O"-ring and put a bit of silicon grease on it, refitted and filled with water. A week later and its still not leaking Quote Paul B . .......Mondeo Estate & Elddis Avanté 505 (Tobago)
