Damaged Stabiliser End

I think I must have bumped my stabiliser end when reversing because I now see a bit missing and a screw has fallen out. The plastic edge of the hitch has broken off so the screw has nowhere to purchase.

I had the pads changed not long ago.

My question: does this screw operate under any pressure, or would it be safe to simply put strong gaffer tape over the end to hold it in place. I would rather not have to go to the expense of a new stabiliser, but with a winter of towing round Spain ahead of me I would rather be safe than sorry!

You can buy just the arm.

Thanks DTH, that looks like the best plan. Wilmond are out of stock, but sure I can find one somewhere, now I know I can buy the bits rather than the whole thing.

Thanks for all your help.

Yesterday morning I bit the bullet. Using the excellent diagram from the Groveproducts website recommended by Tony I removed the damaged arm. Having Googled possible suppliers I went on to the Taunton Trailers website to order a new arm. I was thrown, because attached to the inside of the arm are a set of washers and I saw no way to detach them. Were they the friction pad shims referred to on the website? They certainly formed part of the "keeping the friction pads in place" system. I e-mailed Taunton Trailers, expecting to sit back and wait for a few days. No, I had a reply and good explanation almost by return. So I ordered the new Arm at mid day yesterday, it arrived in the post this morning and is now fitted.

Thank you Taunton Trailers, excellent service.
