tonyradstone
Did outbound Saturday 26 July this year via tunnel and all went well Edited September 7, 2014 by tonyradstone Quote We have a Wilderness trailboat it is the same as a Caravan but it floats, the inside fittings are the same as in many Caravans (Lights,Cooker, Alde heating etc), we stay on Caravan sites (Caravan mode) enroute to and from our chosen destinations, and in France on the return leg for two or more nights due to vet visits. www. wilderness. org. uk

Ha Ha We got caught our first year travelling on the first Saturday in August! Vowed to never do it again so travelled Thursday Friday last year but ended up doing Friday Saturday again this year. Not too bad other than being stuck on the A86 round Paris for 4 hours on the Friday. ............ We are planning next year again already Mike Quote VW Touareg 3. 0L V6 262 R Line with a Unicorn IV Segovia trying to keep up!

milkymarsh
Come on Milky! I need some inspiration for next year Inspiration. Looks like could be les brunelles if we can get a pitch. Made a decision as to when we are going (out on sat 1st aug 2015, so arrive on site the Sunday). Back 2wks later. Just booked ferry (same as this year). All in £650 for the 4 of us, van and cabins on way out/back. So cheaper than last year. Happy with that! Not booked a site yet, but wanted to get the ferry sorted as its only £35 deposit, and just £15 to amend if Emma doesn't get the time off we wanted. Have a look at camping stretview for les brunelles. Kids are buzzing ref the water slides!
MalH
Why not travel on the Sunday? Very, very few HGVs on the road and no queues at the payages. Just ensure that you start out with a full tank of fuel as most filling stations in France are not staffed on Sundays (and bank hols) and you are reliant on your UK card being accepted for automated payment. I would suggest getting a Saturday afternoon crossing, put in a few miles to a suitable site north or east of Paris (depending on your route) and pay a visit to a hypermarche late afternoon to stock up with booze and fuel! Another trip with the van to France next year? Good man! I'm not doing a trip with the van, decided on a European road trip in the convertible, something different! Quote Caravanless. ...
