Kathie Mead
Hi. I have a question. We have a very old 1984 caravan with a gas fridge that still works but I feel there is a smell. Is it possible that it is leaking gas?

Kathie Mead
Hi. Should I be getting a smell from the fridge when using gas to operate? Seems to be coming out of grill above fridge. It's a very old van with original fridge but it does work really well. Just a funny smell when in use? New to all this so don't know if that's normal. It seems like a similar smell that you might get from a boiler vent outside your house but I'm a little concerned it might be toxic. All help much appreciated. Thank you
Cvan1
You need to get it professionally checked. All fridges should be room sealed although It was a bit lacking on older caravans (things are getting better slowly). WispMan
Until you get it serviced, my advice is not to run it on gas. It is not worth losing your life over. Quote Graham Unless otherwise stated all posts are my personal opinion
Ich
It could be worth fitting a Carbon Monoxide alarm to the van in anycase. It was a bit lacking on older caravans (things are getting better slowly). I suspect it is totally variable as my older van is correctly sealed, but have seen comments on here about new ones that are not. WispMan
Please get the fridge serviced and not to use it on gas till it is serviced. We want you to stay alive You have posted the problem twice. No problem but I will merge the two topics together into the fridge section.
