First questions to answer

are you trying to operate it off the 12V battery?

or from a 230Volt hook up?

or from gas. ?

My mind not only wanders, sometimes it leaves completely

If it is showing a green light you must be using mains power to operate it.

At a guess it is an Electrolux and the green light only indicates that you have mains power to the switch with the light in it.

In all probability the mains heating element has failed and with your obvious lack of technical knowledge of the fridge, it would be very sensible to get a mobile caravan engineer to look at it for you.

If the fridge is not working,as you say, then what else is faulty?

Get the van properly serviced and ensure your safety.

Are you giving your fridge enough time to cool down, these fridges don't cool down as quick as a household fridge.

You do need to give more information as others have said.

You can check whether the heating element is working by the temperature of the air leaving the upper vent on the outside of the caravan. If it feels warm then the element is working.

There might be a 3 way switch on the fridge. For gas ( a flame?), 12V battery sign, and a sort of plug sign for 240V. You want the plug sign on the fridge.

The 12V is ONLY for when the car is attached, the engine running and the correct plug from van to car.

With mains 240V you should have circuit breakers somewhere (MCB's), so find the one for the fridge and make sure it is ON.
