in2wilderness
Hi Everyone, I'm new to caravaning and trying to get a towbar fitted this week. Its been recommended by company I bought caravan to try Wold Towbar based in Bridlington, near where I Iive. They are very bad at getting back to messages (and dearer than most) and wondered if anyone has used them and can pass comment on their reliability etc. ...don't mind paying a bit extra if they're top rate but know nothing about them. I've looked everywhere but sites don't have any reviews apart from one which is some years ago. Spoken to Andrew Ward Towbars who has been very helpful and can do the job this week if I take the car over, but they're based in York (can do it here but not in my time frame). Thanks Rob
WispMan
Vote with your feet and don't use people who never listen to their messages. Have you tried google? Quote Graham Unless otherwise stated all posts are my personal opinion
in2wilderness
Thanks for getting back to me Wispman/Moderator. Yes tried Google but not much success with any reviews over here. It's a problem being this far away from everyone. ..as you no doubt know youself as you are from Cumbria (lived there, seen that got the 'long way from everywhere' t-shirt!) WispMan
Here (in the sticks ) I once had a main dealer put a towbar on my car and then tne boot leaked forever. Since then, I have only used specialists - now even more so with the sophisticated electrics cars now have. So let's hope someone with knowledge of your area will give some good advice. in2wilderness
Thank you. Yes, I'd like to have my first towbar fitted properly; hence my caution about cheaper quotes.
BrianI
Have a look on here http://www. ntta. co. uk/buyers_guide/towbars. html Under both "towbar centres" and "towbar mobile fitter" There are also some national towbar suppliers that cover the whole country such as PF Jones http://www. pfjones. co. uk/national-towbar-fitting-locations. html There are others if you do a search. Cherokee2015
We're in Hull and have used Towone Trailers in Havelock Street for the last 20 years. They know their stuff and are reasonably priced. Would recommend them anytime. allotmentkev
Try Harland Fletcher at Barmby moor. I agree about Wold Towbar's, left them a message about fitting a towbar to my Kia. I am still waiting for a reply. ....................Voted with my feet. My attitude is if you can't be bothered with even communicating back to me (whether it is by e-mail which I gave wold Towbars, mobile or land line) then I am afraid you can expect never to get my business again or even recommendations. Muddywheels
Have used Wold Tow bars many times in the past on my LR'S and always been happy so shocked to read the above comments Quote A Vanner without a van due to the demands of DIY and SWMBO - 40 years was a good run though Now a Motorhome Learner with a Fiat Toad
John19
I fitted my own tow bar and had Towone in Hull to dial in the electrics for me. They were very professional and knowledgeable about the task. I did ask Wold tow bars if they could do the dialling in for me, but they did not have the equipment for working on an Audi. I did not have any problems with contacting them.

xtrailman
In my experience using a NTTA fitter in Rotherham for many years the staff changes every time I visit the place. My cross beam came loose on my 2004 xtrail which I thought was a one of, but this year my CX-5 witter came loose after using it around a year. Nearly all the bolts were found loose! Only the receiver bolts were still tight, so not impressed. what I am saying is the quality of the fitting is down to the fitter working there at the time. This place uses NO ramps so the fitter is on his back to fit. Following this latest saga I have decided to try a cheaper place price wise, but one that employs a ramp.
