gravon42
Went away last week and used the awning. When it rained it poured through the front nearside window, seemingly from the inside. Never had a leak before, We had some serious weather abroad last year, worst in history in that area, but the awning did not leak. Do you think it is possible to put an awning up so tight that it could loosen the awning rail? I cannot think of any other reason. Black Grouse
Awning rails need removing and resealing every five years - the mastic used by UK makers hardens and starts to leak - they don't mention that in their sales brochure. The simple answer is yes -plus as Black Grouse says, the mastic goes hard and needs replacing, some types more often than others. http://www. bestecoshop. com/sikaflex-552-adhesive-300ml. html This is what you need -plus some stainless steel screws and a plastic scraper to get the old stuff off. There are loads of threads on renewing awning rail seals if you search.
