Kampa Rally Ace - Monsoon Poles

We have just 'upgraded' our old porch awning for a Rally Ace. We bought the Kampa accessories annex & storm straps pack with it and we wanted to buy the monsoon poles that Kampa state in the instructions and on their site should be 3 poles in one pack. According to the instructions book that comes with the awning the three poles are different lengths.

Our dealer is telling us that this is not correct information, Kampa have changed the design and that we should buy the 'update' poles which are all the same length. Does anyone have the same awning with monsoon poles and if so, should they all be the same length?? Kampa are still advertising the 'special' pack for the Ace in their accessories but I can't find any stock of them online either !

We haven't used it yet but looking forward to providing the onsite entertainment when we try to put it up next week end. ;)

Hi Maggie,

Their was some miscommunication on our end that led some of us to believe the monsoon poles came in a pack of three.

They actually come as a single. Each pole is identical as the length of them can be adjusted and the clamp that connect to the pole can also be adjust to an angle, which is necessary on the side ones.

Your dealer is giving the correct advice. Sorry for the confusion.

Kind Regards,
Kampa Max

Thanks Kampa Max!..

that's great information to know as the leaflet that comes packed within the awning gives the instructions for different lengths, and Kampa still have the same information on the website. .. hence our confusion today!

We are still in practice mode with this awning. .. so am sure the weekend will prove some great entertainment to our touring 'neighbours' - but when is putting up an awning ever easy! Wish us luck :)

Hi Maggie,

We have the same awning and have used it 3 times.

It is really easy to assemble (we had a Kampa 260 before so had a good idea).

We also bought the bespoke Kampa awning carpet as it makes pegging out so much easier as you have the footprint of the awing to work with. The bag the carpet comes in is very good but has a very flimsy zip, so be careful putting the carpet away as we have already lost one of the zippers.

To avoid condensation we always leave the zips that hold the 3 front panels in pulled up to the top centre of the window and then at night open the zips about 10" to allow air to circulate, this lets air in but prevents rain from the roof running down and into the awning.

We are very pleased with the awning as it is a good 4m long so covers much of the caravan, and has a good depth so you can use it to dine in and for storage etc.

perhaps you may get them a tad cheaper . what i have done is purchased 4 monsoon poles from the old kampa rally pro 390 and made up the sets to fit three from the 4th one at a fraction of the cost and they are just as good as the originals and fit.

  • 1 month later...

we have just purchased a nearly new rally ace, came with upright rear poles and monsoon poles, only used once last week but found the clips that hold the poles to the front poles dont fit very tight and the poles have a curve and one didnt seem to want to stay in a curve and moved more towards an s, not sure that we had the front of the awning high enough as it stayed rippled near to where the awning met the caravan in the top corners, will have to experiment next time we put together, seems a very nice awning, looking for a carpet for next season, martin
