rolywak
Not solely TOWcar but ALL cars. AS the MOT time nears, it made me think, in these days of electronic post, what happens if you take an early test ? If you fail, would your old test be negated ? Could you be pulled up with an ANPR scan ? With penalty ? In the 'old days' you showed your bit of paper. dreadly
You can still drive your vehicle if it fails the test and its existing MOT certificate is still valid (ie you got it tested before the expiry date). However, you might be stopped by police and prosecuted if your vehicle is unroadworthy. If the vehicle fails the test and the certificate has expired, you can only drive it to: a pre-arranged appointment at a garage to have the repairs done a pre-arranged MOT test appointment Your vehicle should be retested at the same test centre which did the original test. https://www. gov. uk/getting-an-mot/after-the-test Edited August 21, 2014 by dreadly Quote An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind. reluctant
Yes, but doesn't an MOT fail mean that it is un-roadworthy ? Not necessarily, it can fail an MoT for a stop lamp not working, and whilst it is an offence to use a vehicle with a defective stop lamp, it does not mean the vehicle is unroadworthy, simply that it has a defective lamp. Black Grouse
If you have a MoT test up to 1 month early, and pass, the new certificate will now automatically expire 12 months from the current certificate. If you have a MoT test early, and fail, the current MoT certificate is still valid - but your vehicle may be regarded as unroadworthy - depending on the nature of the failure. P38man
I always book mine in at least 2 weeks before it’s due because they always find something!!! This gives me time to source good used or new on webay to help with costs. Last MOT £1,200 plus four new Dunlop air bags that I managed to get for half price. Your new MOT starts on the anniversary of your expiry date. I see they now offer a reminder service, they will text you for the cost of £1. 50.
