gravon42
I am with the Caravan Club MAYDAY service. This is the CC version of Green Flag, and is specifically for CC members, and covers everything. Thoroughly recommend them. Les Medes
I use Mayday and have done for years, I have used them twice and on each occasion found them to be efficient and quick to respond, we have the Full Monte Service at £119 per annum and covers both cars, it also covers any car that I am a passenger, so I think it's good value Les Quote Les
Lee21
Crikey Les!!, I think I will be looking onto that. I'm sure I pay about £260 for the 'full bifta' with the RAC for similar cover for SWIMBO and myself. ... but then again I have been a bit lazy for the last 5 years or so and let I renew automatically by direct debit and not shopped around for the best price. gumdrop
AA and RAC have been my breakdown cover via my bank account. Anyway I looked very hard at the bank account. and realised I could save £16 a month by changing to Caravan Club Mayday. I had really good service from RAC but had no occasion to use the AA. gumdrop
More importantly it covers the caravan, at least cover worked out by the Caravan Club should cover the caravan

Millstone
If you take Mayday (any cover) and make it personal cover for an extra small amount it covers Insured AND Spouse for ANY vehicle you drive (and of course covers the caravan as well) Quote Lunar Clubman SB 2013 following a Hyundai Tucson MHEV 4x4 2 ltr 185 hp Premium SE (2019)

Paul, you need to select the 'Personal cover' option rather than the 'Additional Vehicle Cover'. Personal cover covers you and your spouse in any vehicle and is £7 more than the additional vehicle cover.

The Waltons
We are with Green Flag mayday, but never again. BEWARE. one of their agents, because that's who they use, not always their recovery vehicles. Lost a wheel cover, wheel hub and dented our van. It went to the insurance ombudsman who said that it was our word against theirs, so they took their word and we have been left with a heft bill. Not even a mention of a %50 pay out for our word against theirs. They are big, we are small, they right, we are wrong. I'll go calm down now and take another tablet !!!! Tandem Man
thanks for the replies do u have to be a CC member to take out mayday? Can u call them out if NOT towing? Yes you have to be a CC member for Mayday ( £42 per year or is it £44 ?? ) Yes it covers not towing as well just like normal Green Flag/AA/RAC etc. Ian Edited August 10, 2014 by Tandem Man Quote The Bailey Unicorn Cadiz 3 Blog
Paul_B
You have to be CC member but that also has its perks and mayday covers the car when its solo too Quote Paul B . .......Mondeo Estate & Elddis Avanté 505 (Tobago)
Chris308
You can get mayday cover without being a cc member. I have just taken out through green flag. No requirement for cc cover, although you may need it to get your 2 free nights on a cc site.
glammr
shame. not joining them as rubbish! Any other organizations that are good? Could i not just join Green flag normal as there is no where in there script that says caravans?
fredsautos
To say they are rubbish because of one unhappy customer on here is a bit ott? Im sure every break down organisation will have someone unhappy with their service. Plus if you join Green flag they use the same agent as mentioned in the above post, so they are rubbish as well! glammr
i have been a member of CC and its a waste of money! sites not all that . .if you can get on one as always booked! gumdrop
I belonged to RAC and AA, but never used the AA. I did however have cause to use the RAC and they were very good, it was an intermittent fault so after the initial call, finding nothing the patrol man escorted me the last 15 miles or so to the destination. Pebble
Join CC for the first year and take out Mayday. When it comes to renewing the breakdown, Green Flag do NOT ask if you're a CC member and then you get Mayday at the normal rate, ie, without having to pay £44ish for CC membership. It is not neccessary. Green Flag run the Mayday cover for the CC, however you can take out Mayday direct with Green Flag without being a CC member, same cover, same price ie mine was £126 for: Roadside Repairs Recovery to repairer or other destination within 10 miles Dual Recovery - If you break down on your way to a site and your vehicle can't be fixed we'll take you to your holiday destination and back home again (Roadside and Recovery, Premium UK) Home-call Extra Care - Including Accommodation expenses (up to £100 per person), free car recovery and a chauffeur if the main driver is incapacitated Cover for vehicle whoever is driving Personal cover covers you and your spouse/partner in any car
glammr
thanks Just one last question. I have read the green flag normal T+C and it doesnt say owt about not towing? So why not just spend £38 for normal green flag cover?
Chris308
The difference is that with Mayday you are covered if the problem is with the caravan as well as the car eg. a puncture. Normal breakdown cover would not help you in this instance. Eg. my Volvo assist cover would recover the caravan in the event of a mechanical failure with the car but if I was stranded due to a mechanical fault with the caravan I would be on my own.
