Forester72
Two sites at Gien, one on the river,Camping Touristique de Gien, the other is Les Bois du Bardelet. They are both ok, but the one on the river is close to town and Supermarket. We then travel via Orleans, Chartes, Dreux,Evreux on the N154. Just South of Rouen go West for a short distance, and then turn North to Yvetot via the Pont de Brotonne. This is to avoid the damaged bridge in Rouen. Pick up the A29 at Yvetot and follow signs for Calais. This route has very little payage and otherwise has good stretches of dual carriageway, or free Autoroute. burstneraddict
If you are routing Chartres, Dreux, Evreux, Rouen to Calais then you may wish to consider the Municipal at St Remy sur Eure which is about 10km after Dreux. It is called Camping D'Eglise and listed under Nonancourt in the CC Europe book. It is off to the right as you enter the village and only a quarter of a mile off the main road. It is a popular night halt with large flat pitches and a modern, immaculate facilities block and cost us €13 last year. This is obviously further on than Orleans but is about 4 hours + from Calais as you have Rouen to go around. We have used it several times as it is so convenient on that route. BFM
Camping municipal at Orbec. Fabulous site in the local spots park, with immaculate grass pitches maintained by the greenkeeper. Highly recommended. Quote Enjoy every minute of every day. It doesn't last nearly as long as you'd like, and there's no guarantee of coming this way again. ValA
hi do you have a web address for this site ? We stopped the night a bit further down the road this year on the way back from Spain, what a dump . ..... Where was that? We've read reports of the Les Terasses site at Igoville being a poor choice, as well as the one just off the N12 towards Dreux (can't remember the name of the site). For anyone else, the address of the campsite in St Remy sur Avre (Nonancourt in the Caravan Club book) is Au centre ville, 500 m RN 12, Saint-Rémy-sur-Avre, 28380 France Get directions +33 2 37 48 93
phil1041
We do this trip regularly we always use the toll free route using the D2020 just prior to joining the N154, we stay here just south of Orleans http://www. campingrandesologne. com/ Phil. burstneraddict
Val, Many thanks for correcting the name of the town/village as St Remy sur Avre. I was having a memory failure/confusion on rivers and I will use the excuse that it is in the region of Eure
burstneraddict
For those who requested the web site of the Municipal Du Pre d'Eglise in St Remy sur Avre, it does not have its own (like many Municipals) but is listed within the ACSI Eurocampings directory here: http://www. eurocampings. co. uk/france/centre/eure-et-loir/saint-remy-sur-avre/municipal-du-pre-de-leglise-113940/
