Yes, got it a fortnight ago! You need to present a current CC membership card, not sure if a C&CC card will be accepted.

And you have to be towing . .. basically, the van goes free.

Roughing it . . but in comfort . .

Seems obvious but make sure you choose a lane with an attendant. We used it in June, no problem.

Going down to Dover a month ago on a Friday, we were charged £5. 50 for car& van, we're not CC members and were not asked for a card. Coming back 3 weeks later, again on a Friday £10. 00!

I used the toll towing last night. Unfortunately the junction we came off at did not have any manned booths so was unable to claim my discount!

This month's Caravan Club magazine said that if you use an unmanned booth you can push the 'assistance' button to speak to someone to get the discount.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am usuially away from home when my card is re-issued and the road operators insist on an upto date card. I could not get the club for reasons due to the printing process to send my card to a club site for collection but I had the person looking after our home do it for us.

And it works, I did it today. The very happy chap on the end of the intercom took my membership number and expiry date, and adjusted the amount remotely. I just had to chuck my change in and drive off.

Aside - I've had a Mersey Tunnel fast tag for over 10 years, but was told I couldn't use it when towing, had to pay cash, no discount. Recently discovered I could have a second tag for category 2 on the same account! Saves 60p per trip with the van.
