Popular Post OLD NICK
After spending all last winter in the UK due to a small medical problem, entailing weekly visits to the hospital for tests chemo etc.( our first winter in the uk for 15 yrs.). I have decided that being in one place all the time is just not us. We need to be travelling. I keep reading on the forum about all these lucky people preparing for their winter trips envy, envy, envy. Having just read that Not so big John is now spending Christmas in Spain I am not going to sit here waiting for the weather to change. Having spoken to the specialists at the hospital, they are quite happy for me to fly back every 2/3 months for treatment,so the ferry is booked for the end of august & away we go. At last we have something to look forward to. I feel better already. 11 Quote van Bessacar 625 towed by Mercedes M class 3. 2 cdi. we do 6mths at home (winter) 6mths touring (summer) Retired & loving it.--------- Adventure before Dementia. OLD NICK
would you believe it,having decided to go to spain for the winter. I have now been told by the specialist to stay out of the sun as the chemo & the steroids have thinned my skin to resemble tissue paper. Just can,t win can I. not so big john
Take a good supply of Panama hats as well. It's just as well it is the winter warmth you are going for, not the winter sun! ValA
Nick, you can either sit in the shade in the warmth and worry about your thin skin, or you can sit in the cold and wet, and think 'What the h/// am I doing here'. Go, sit in the warmth, and worry not about the chemo and your thin skin. A friend of mine, against all advice, thirty odd years ago, during radiotherapy and chemotherapy for breast cancer, took her two teenage sons on a six month holiday to Turkey. She, and they, had a great time, she just kept 'her chest' out of the sun, but did everything else, swimming in the sea, visiting ancient cities and monuments, walking through Cappadocia. Sadly, she died this year - but she'd really enjoyed herself in those thirty odd years. She could have just at home and moped, waiting until she 'Was well enough to be given the all clear'. Another friend, a resident of Cairo, had a nasty tumour removed from his face just a year ago, but has decided that he'd be happier at his house in the Aude in the South of France, than sitting in the safe environment of Yorkshire, just waiting to see 'what happens next'. OLD NICK
Its not distasteful its just cold. As for paying I have paid in for 60 yrs without ever having to use the NHS.
