Awning Pendant Light - How To Secure?

The wife picked up a Pendant light from IKEA recently http://www. ikea. com/gb/en/catalog/products/60256494/ which of course is supposed to be wired into a ceiling rose. It goes without saying that muggins got the job of removing the ceiling rose attachment end, fitting a switch in it's place and extending the cable so that I could run it along the roof awning pole (back to front), across to a corner pole and then down to an extension socket.

On a recent trip I noticed that a Dutch neighbour had adopted the same approach and was using small white plastic pieces to secure the cable to the poles. This piece of plastic had a 'U' cut into one end to slip around the pole whilst the opposite side had a sort of slot into which to push the cable and which was tight enough to hold it secure. Like a fool I believed these could be picked up from any caravan accessory store but now of course have been unable to find them.

From my description does anyone have a clue what I'm on about (apart from me that is and even then I'm not too sure lol) and can offer me a proper name for these clips or provide an alternative method of securing the cable to the poles. I realise that I can always use Velcro at the end of the day but if there are ready made jobbies available for this sort of thing well why make life harder than it already is. :)

The clips are for the cable, if you need to hold it at a set height,

you will need to belay the cable around a cleat of some sort.

In the tenting world there are hangers and such that clamp around

a pole to hang shaving mirrors or coats from a vertical pole

Spot on gumdrop - those Inner Tent Clip with Hook http://www. tentawningclinic. co. uk/PoleAcc/pa02. html are the very item that the Dutch guy had and for which I had been searching. Cheers mate, I'm a happy bunny now.
