Stuck Hub

Moose

Recommended Posts

Pulling our twin off pitch last weekend en-route to a rally, one of the wheels locked and no amount of jiggling backwards and forward or fiddling with the handbrake would release it.

Out came the jack, off came the wheel, a lump hammer helped dismantle the hub and when I put it back together it all worked perfectly - 2 hours later.

Any ideas what went wrong ? ( The van was parked up with the handbrake off and the wheels chocked )

and what else could I have done / should do next time ?

TIA

Moose

P. S. recommendations to reverse all the way there or to weld the A frame onto the other end were received at the time and I'm not doing either B)

Are all the linings still attached to the shoes? If one came adrift and moved around the drum it could become lodged between the other shoe and drum.
