Disco Kid
Just had cause to change the 'pistol' fitting at the caravan end of the pump pipe . The inside of the blue outer shield was thick, black gunge, worse at the top but extending down to the water level . . inside the actual clear water pipe was OK, so I reckon it is caused by condensation never being cleared and dried. It may look nice from the outside, but I've thrown the outer away and run with the pipe in the open with the wire taped to it. I kave a length of copper pipe in the water jack, which keeps the green growth at bay Edited March 19, 2014 by old hand Quote Roughing it . . but in comfort . . JTQ
If I am understanding correctly, it will be "algae", which will be far worse where exposed to light. Virtually impossible to avoid, though "blue" piping is said to help but not that I have noticed.
WispMan
If you were able to look inside the main water pipe supplying your house, you would be shocked at the extent of the algae.
