rolywak
Making use of the nice weather, I got out my bucket and hose pipe. Upon cleaning the front roof, over the windows I found 'pimples' on the roof. I use car shampoo and polish, ( usually Mer shampoo ) Has anyone experienced similar ? or any views ? I thought that the GRP would not be affected like this ! Quote 2012 Honda CRV 2 litre towing 2003 Lunar Clubman 475/
mechs
My van't got cellulite but it is old! Could hail maybe have caused it over time? Quote Compass Shadow 1988
rolywak
Only on the GRP front section, - the bend over the windows to the aluminium roof. R Quote 2012 Honda CRV 2 litre towing 2003 Lunar Clubman 475/

CommanderDave
Are the pimples on the aluminium ? Pimples in aluminium are usually signs of corrosion eating from inside out and possibly in straight lines where the wood is behind and will end up as holes. bspks
I had this on the front panel of my old Eriba Eribelle, sort of rough raised dimples, it occurred as it got old (it was 12 years old when I noticed it), the GRP lost its shine at around the same time. I put it down to exposure to weather, sun in general. It never leaked though, and I had it for 3 more years after this. Strange on a newer 'van, unless the Mer has taken off any protective coating that was there. In any case, I think it's only the top gel coat that's affected, so I wouldn't panic over it. Tourershine
We see this all the time. Normally on the older Caravans and it's normally on either the front locker or the shelf under the front windows. Short of getting into the body shop for some pretty drastic work, there's not a lot you can do with the 'pimples'.
SamWidges
Tourershine, is this likely to greatly decrease the life of the van? I'm looking at a van at the moment and I'll be happy if I get 3 years out of it, even with a bit of care like using a cover or regular polishing. However if it is likely to fail in the next 1-2 years, I'd be very unhappy. Edited May 26, 2015 by SamWidges
