Truma Twin Axle Mover Stopped Working.....help?

Hello!

Our mover has stopped working,

Battery in van fully charged, remote batteries new.

Normally the remote beeps until there is a small 'clunk' & whirring sound from the unit in the van as it receives the remote signal This is not happening, the remote beeps then stops, having given up trying to make the connection.

Checking that the remote is paired to the van the red light doesn't flash but remains on constantly when button is pressed.

Any ideas please?

Is there an aerial on the control box and is it still attached \ positioned correctly?

Have you placed any metal objects close to the control box?

My aerial (in a Bailey) protruded through the floor and had corroded away,

I repaired it with a crimp as a tempory job, using wire from a set of cheap

ear buds (headphones)

Do you have a 3mtr. 3. 5 to 3. 5 stereo lead with your mover kit? (to use in case of aerial failure)

one end plugs into the handset the other into the main panel

Thank you for your answers:

Dave- Thank you, No warranty long since gone!

Gellyneck - No sign of aeriel - expect there is one but never seen it - OH has no idea where it is/was. It's worked fine for past 4+ years. Nothing goes near box - it's under the bench with water heater, tank etc & nothing else is ever put in there.

Gumdrop - Will send OH under the van when the weather is better to see if anything there or not!! No, never had a lead just a handle to wind mover off wheels!

Oh well, sounds like I might have to get Caravan Repair Man to visit! Think maybe our sea air might well have something to do with it. Oh bother!

Thanks anyway.

Before you do -

  • have you checked the power connections to the control box at both battery end and box end?
  • have you checked the connections on the isolating switch (assuming one fitted)?
  • is there a power led on the control box and is it on?
  • etc

Sorry if these are obvious but . .......

Not clear on the model of Truma mover you have but this flowchart may help before calling the expert?

Are you really sure about the leisure battery condition?

A fully charged battery should show 12. 68V

Take the batteries out of the handset and with the battery

cover off put it somewhere warm to make sure it is not damp.

Try the movers "live" before you wind them onto the tyres.

  • 1 month later...

Deffo check the battery.

I have had this problem with my Truma SE mover, I sent the control unit back to Truma (Out Of warranty. They were very helpful and said they will test it and read the error logs for free). It came back with a clean bill of health and a print out of the error logs which clearly showed that although my battery was fully charged, it was no longer producing enough cold cranking amps to operate.

New battery fitted - no further issues.

Oh, and my control unit has never had an aerial.

:-)

I would be honoured if you could spare a few pounds to sponsor me.
