IanT599
Hi all, We're looking at going away to a hard standing pitch. We've always been on grass before. Our question is reference ground sheet/carpets. We've recently got the Isabella Bolon carpet and we're worried about using it on a hard standing pitch incase it gets damaged by small stones etc. Anyone used a groundsheet on hardstanding? IanT599
Thanks for the reply. Puts us at ease as we weren't sure if it would be damaged or not. We had a good idea it would be ok but always best to ask advice. Brocher12
We have a friend who has his own carpet shop, we get all the high quality samples when discontinued. These are 24-28" square and soon cover the awning floor. If not you could just take a few and make walkways. If they get soaked or filthy, just throw away and request new ones, they will save money throwing them in the skips.
matelodave
We've been using our Bolon carpet for several years on hardstandings with no obvious ill effect. Even if it did wear out it wasn't that expensive that I would get all that upset about it. mw3230
We have a Bolon carpet and are very pleased with it. However I bought a couple of the inexpensive blue tarpaulins from Toolstation and spread them on the ground first. This give a small measure of protection from stones etc but more importantly it stops dust getting through the carpet and keeps it cleaner. Incidentally, we are currently on a site in Spain and have bought a pitch cover which way laid by the site staff - it's nothing elaborate, looks like a length of the type on fabric used to suppress weeds which is nailed down all over the pitch with six inch nails. The reason I mention it is that the chaps who put it down were very careful to sweep the pitch to remove pebbles and stones etc. This has much reduced the risk of anything puncturing the awning carpet
