blondchaser
This is a strange one. The car is 99-2000 but there were no 1. 6hdi diesels at that time. At this age it should be a 2 litre diesel (90bhp) or a 1. 6 8 valve petrol. Try asking your question on www. citroenpicasso. org. uk under the technical section for mark 1&2. Picasso diesels are best for towing. I tow an Elddis 17ft van with a 92bhp 1. 6 picasso diesel. Will be a lot better than the Picasso. 2. 0 diesel Mondeo should be good for pulling up to approx 1500kg caravan Edited January 31, 2014 by SamP Quote <p>2007 Sterling Cruach Cuillin & 2016 Volvo XC60 SE D4
screenman
I have experience of both and I would say the Citroen a nicer more functional car that certainly drives better. Not sure what it will tow though.
Jaydug
so would i be as well with a petrol?Definitely not! Unless your engine is very big, petrol engines are not rated very highly as towcars. The Picasso is a popular tow car, especially amongst foreign caravanners. There are three Picassos towing quite big vans currently on this site where I'm staying in Spain. However, the kerb weight of a Picasso built around 2000 to 2004 is 1375Kg and will come with either the petrol engine or the 2ltr HDI 8valve diesel engine. If you stick to the 85% of kerb weight rule, you should be easily cope with a van of around 1200Kgs loaded weight. The 1. 6 diesel wasn't introduced until after 2004-5. Wunny
I bought my Orion because it is perfectly suited to my Xsara Picasso 1. 6Hdi. The combination tow well, giving an average fuel consumption of 38 mpg when towing. Quote Bailey Orion News & Information -

totalnoob
Picasso's are too light unless you have a very light caravan, we traded ours in for a Kia sportage so we could pull a heavier caravan, but they are a very practical family car if you can get a light enough caravan.
