A Few From Hope Valley

I am currently perched on the side of a hill overlooking Hope Valley in the Peak District. Lovely spot:

A good reason for winter caravanning.

Let's just say, it's been changeable ;)

Been here just over two weeks now and there have probably been around two or three 'blue skies' days, maybe five or six sunny with occasional showers and the same again downright wet and windy days. Night temperatures have fluctuated between around 12 degrees with the coldest being 1 degree. Personally, I think the day temperatures have been quite mild.

This is my first winter outing and, whilst I've learned a lot being off EHU for such a long time, the experience has been very positive. Given a nice site, I will definitely be winter caravanning again.

Thanks for nice comments about the photos :)

Here are a few more from in and around Hope Valley. I particularly like the sunrise reflected in my vans window and the moody shot of Peverill castle overlooking Castelton.

The star trails were a bit of a disappointment the moon was out that night and, together with the street lighting from Bradwell, Brough and Hope, the clouds ended up a little too bright to properly show off the trails.

I certainly enjoyed being inside my van whilst my camera was outside taking the 30 minute exposures!!

Enjoy!

A bit more 'arty' with this set! I'm not sure if such views should be left 'as nature intended' or used simply as input for a creative process. What do you think of the two processed shots? Any comments welcome.

I got locked on the colour in grayscale image and universally have a 'thing' about any photography that doesn't look natural - hate the 'frozen' waterfall effect, for example and the massively over-saturated images that are published along with local weather forecasts on the telly - rant over!! The rest are very good. :)

Many thanks for your comments. The two greyscales are actually just heavily under-saturated - they are both colour shots. In the walkers shot, it's just that their clothes are such a big contrast to the mid-tone landscape behind them that it looks like I've purposely 'coloured' them. Yes, I do think over-saturated colours do look false, when I see them makes me feel like I'm being duped!

Yep it was the walkers shot - apologies.

Well, it's snowing here in Hope Valley. I hope (d'ya see what I did there! ;)) that I get some nice snow shots. If I could get some sunrise alpen-glow over lose hill then I wouldn't be such a loser. ..(chuckle, d'ya see what I did there! ;))

. ...sorry, just got up. Bit of childhood excitement seeing the snow. I'll re-awaken the adult later when i need to go drive to get some gas!!

You should be getting a bit more snow tonight if the rain doesn't wash it away ^_^
