I think the southerners all head for Europe.

Enjoy every minute of every day. It doesn't last nearly as long as you'd like, and there's no guarantee of coming this way again.

365,000 CC members at £44 pa = over £16 million !

Then there's the pitch fees and 'per person' fees.

Wow!

A 430ft caravan. ....that can't be correct surely?

Yes, that's longer than a football pitch! Or about 12 double-decker buses!

Extract from the website

"The EleMMent Palazzo is a 40ft creation for the super-rich that Marchi Mobile says "represents exclusivity and extravagance that requires no explanation." "

I reckon it's fat fingers at the club :D

A subscription to Caravan or Practical Caravan costs about £40 pa . . so, by my reckoning, £44 is a bargain

Roughing it . . but in comfort . .

Sorry Oldhand, I don't see the connection.

I missed saying that for the £44 you get a magazine that would cost you about £40 and club membership into the bargain . .

No-one, but no-one, would pay £44 for either of the club's rags!

And I don't think £44 a year is too bad for the membership advantages . .. my comment was meant to be on the lines of "what are they doing with all this money?"

"what are they doing with all this money?"

If you read the Annual Reports in Caravan Magazine it tells you pretty much what they spend it on and why they have large investments. ....

To follow another thread on CC on this site on property. ........Some years ago I was on holiday overseas and our table companion was a nice chap from East Grinstead HQ. ....Property specialist especially site purchases.

At that time I queried certain land deals they had done on existing sites and the answers were varied but many of them had to be 'opportunist', i. e. Property was being marketed on a 'short date' basis, in some cases as little as three months before completion, as sometimes present owners needed cash quickly. ...also they could not be left with sitting tenants for legal reasons. ...... One site they had been left a small legacy which had to be spent before a Year End, which is how they bought the Rosedale (Howards) site. ..from the owners, who have a commercial site next door. ......etc. etc. ..

No I don't think situation is perfect, any organisation which has a mixture of permanent staff but is led by volunteer Committees is bound to have faults.
