There is a one-way valve beyond the plugin socket but a small amount of water may trickle out when disconnected. Having said that, the one way valves are just plastic with a rubber valve, so they do fail.

If you look at the pump plug and socket you

will see it will hold around a tablespoon of

water, this normal and will stop quite quickly

after disconnection. rinse the pump, residue

from the cleaner can sometimes seize the pump

when you go to use it in the spring

And are easily replaced. .......... May just need a small rubber ring but don't lose the spring.

I suggest you do this on a clear surface not in the grass in a field as I did. ;)
