SteveE53
Hi, we'd like to visit Spain and France during May of 2014 and want to take our Tibetan Terrier, Archie who will be about 18 months old when we travel. We know about the DEFRA pet passport etc and we know how we will be travelling. Has anyone any advice on dog friendly sites in Northern Spain and the west coast of France please and anything we should be prepared for or guard against please Quote Honda CRV 2. 2 i-CTDI just ahead of Lunar Lexon
CommanderDave
You also need to check any local laws for leads, muzzles, and carrying pop bags where your going and how the dog is transported in the car. Alsie
We took our collie cross through France and Northern Spain this year for a 4 month trip. We found that all the campsites we stayed at were dog friendly and France seems to be very dog friendly, even allowing dogs into some restaurants etc. Unfortunately most French people do not pick up after their dog very often as the streets we walked along were littered with dog mess. We were impressed however with a campsite near Rosas in Spain called Camping Amfora www. campingamfora. com This was right on the beach and even though there was a sign saying no dogs allowed on the beach, everyone who had a dog took it on the beach anyway including ourselves. They even provided free dog bags next to the dog pooh bin giving dog owners no excuses for not picking up after their dog. Make sure that you protect your dog with a monthly dose of either Frontline Combo or Advantrix and a suitable worming tablet. We treated our dog each month with these products and had no health problems during our trip. Also good idea to take out insurance like Red Pennant or similar for peace of mind should the unexpected happen Have fun on your trip your dog will love it. SteveE53
Thanks for the advice and info. all, Camping Amfora looks amazing but we'll only be in the far north of Spain, sailing into Santander, staying a couple of nights and then crossing the border into France, so any campsite advice on those regions would be appreciated please.
