Thetford 262 Toilet Lid Removal

On our previous caravan we had what must have been a Thetford 250 but on the motorhome we have the newer 262. On the 250 it was a relatively easy thing to remove the lid and seat for cleaning but on the 262 this seems much more difficult. It is clearly fitted onto lugs on the main body but short of getting a big screwdriver in and forcing the seat off the lugs, which might do untold damage I am at a loss to see how it comes off. Any ideas?

Apparently that was one of the improvements, that the seat on the 262 dosen't come off that easily!!!!

The instruction on Page 4 of the User Manual is

"To clean your toilet thoroughly remove the seat and cover. First push the seat and cover together to the right and lift up"
