Terapixel Photo Of Locomotive

Recommended Posts

Is it me, but I don't get it.

The static image would not be that large, but put animation (flash video or similar) and it bangs up the file size.

In any event, unless you were going to blow the picture up to fit on Buchingham Palace the resolution would be a waste of time as you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between 500Mb or 2Tb.

It is very interesting stuff.

The recent photograph from the top of the Shard of the 360 deg view of London was one of the best I have seen so far.

Like the loco. :)

I can see a watch but not that detail.

My old employer fits megapixel cctv systems. Upto 29mp cameras that use cannon lenses on the pro models. We did an install to help catch cable thieves using a 16mp, From where they were they could not even see the camera. Facial recognition at over 700 metres. Its earning its money.

As has been said its not just about picture quality, its about the detail when blown up or zoomed in.
