Whilst I cannot speak for the model I can say that Nissan customer service, should you have a problem do not have a good reputation. I am having an issue with my Xtrail and it wasn't until I went on various forums that I realised how bad their customer service is.

I have never owned or driven one, although we came close. I seem to remember a problem with heater pipes corroding where they run along the sills, the pipes were for the rear passanger heater matrix. They may well have sorted that out by now? I believe the built in satnav is a piece of tosh, something to do with postcode input. The reversing camera would be a useful hitching up aid though. I think the fuel consumption is about the same as the Discovery 3 auto (27 mpg), which is why I rejected one as an option.

Own one and love one. .. It's not the heater pipes its the Air Con pipes. ... A well known fault, but Nissan won't do a recall on them. Mine have gone but take ages to empty so - a refill should sort it. Tows like a dream. Sat Nav is not to bad, but dont rely on it if you have the van on the back. ... Get about 25 - 29 towing. ... Mines a 2006 model. .. bit plasticy, but sturdy all the same with the rear seats folded to make a 5 seater, the boot is huge. Best feature is the reversing camera. ..

I have the manual 2010 tekna, over all great tow car, air con pipes has meant to have been modified from 2010 models,my only grump is I only get 21-22mpg when towing, then 23-24 solo, look up other posts on the pathfinder, (seen today c&cc mag that nissan has teamed up with them as tow cars for training at caravan shows maybe worth a look if your going ?) good point is you still have a bit of a boot when all 7 seats are in use, dont get that with the D3, have a look on club nissan forum, plenty of stuff wrote from owners.

Hi Dougb

i tow with a 2. 5 DCI Aventura & Bailey Unicorn The nose weight for the motor is good at 110kg & thats about the same as the van, my van is 1. 5ton & you only now it's ther when you pull away from stand still as you have to give a few more revs.

solo drive i get 25. 4mpg but i have AT Tyres on it. when i had normal road tyres i got about 27mpg.

Towing comes down to speed with me, if i do 56/57mph i get about 21mpg but as soon as i go to 60mph that drops to 18. 5mpg & thats on cruise control, & it will sit in cruise all day long towing very rear out of 6th gear, you don't even now it's there.

I have just done my fortnight jollys clocking up 990 miles & spent £280 om fuel @ £142. 9 average per Lt.

If you have any more Questions i'm happy to answer :D

Cheeres Ray.

I was also chatting to bloke last yea in devon who had an auto (5 speed box) who was towing a Bailey Barcelona & he was only get 18mpg towing

Hi Again, i pull bailey pegasus 646 6 berth, I also have the 7 seats in use, big family, I sit in cruise mode @ 60 giving me the 21 -22mpg, sits there all day long. Only warranty issue Iv had is the rear number plate area where the chrome mount at each bottom corner vibrates and causes a water trap which makes the paint peel, I got it done just last wk, new mod from nissan to stop the vibration, on warranty issues i just become mr pain in the but and dont back down, I find its the dealers more than nissan them selfs. hope this helps, another Q let me know

P. S know a guy who has used nissans for work ( heavy earth moving equipment fitter ) and wouldnt see past them, told me he reckons the engines dont really free up till over the 30'000 mile mark ???

Also spoke to another PF owner who only uses the good fuel as he called it from shell esso n such not the cheap super market rubbish, as he gets better mpg ??? dont know about that one ???

I'm also considering a 2010 PF Auto as I read is better for towing than the manual but is less fuel efficient (+ tax) than the manual. Still not sure but I'm scared of faulty clutches I read and due to knee ache I might go for the automatic. ..

Maybe the Auto is better in Fuel. I have the Navara 190bhp Auto and towing almost 2 tonne with the elddis loaded up I never drop below 25mpg. I want from Liverpool to the lakes the other week and got 27. 4 going and coming back 29. 9. I always set the cruise control to 60 (shows 58 on the sat nav) The sat nav on mine does accept postcodes

I tow a Supercyclone with a 2009 2. 5 ltr manual Aventura, and get 23-24mpg towing, 27-29 mpg solo. It's a great towcar, and just as good on it's own, well equipped and very capable.

We tow our ~2300kg van with a auto 2011 P/F. I get about 14L/100K towing and around 9L/100K around town, etc(sorry, mpg is a distant memory here!). Just about to leave on a 5 week trip that should see us clock up about 6000~7000K's, maybe more. I find that leaving it in 4th is best. The economy doesn't seem to be affected. On flat country, overdrive seems to be OK, but any hills and I manually switch to 4th, and then down to 3rd when I encounter a reasonable hill. A while a go, with the van on, I had to change down to 2nd on a really long climb, but I think that is acceptable. I find it a really good tow car, but I've only ever towed a 6x4 trailer prior to getting the van, so can't really compare.

I borrowed one recently, overall was not a bad car however:-

1) Plastics in Cab looked and felt very cheap

2) Could only drive for about an hour and a hslf before i had to stop and get out due to back pain - reagrdless of how i adjusted the seat could just not get comfortable

3) Dashboard is back lit and requires illumination to see however did not auto dim when turning on side lights at night so the coices are - Drive round in daylight not being able to see instruments (Lights turned down) / Drive round at night and worry a 747 will land on you due to the bright instrument lights (Lights turned up) / mess around all the time with a small twidly knob in the instaurment binacle seetinf the lights for day or night.

Would i but one, no bassed on 2 & 3 above car was too much of a disapointment, which is a shame as apart from the above points it was a very good towcar.

We've just changed our old aventura for a nearly new 190 tekna. Cannot wait to tow with it as solo it is an awesome drive. So much grunt even compared to the previous car. The interior is so much better too, reversing camera and touch screen nav with full postcode input and music hard drive !!! In a pick up lol
