after draining off the heater which seems to take a couple of months, I was wondering what the procedure (if there is one) was when setting up next spring.

If you turn on the hot tap when you are draining it, it allows the water to drain quicker! Shouldnt take more that a few minutes to empty. :D

Filling = connect the aquaroll, turn on the hot tap until all the air is out of the system and the water flows normally (after a bit of spluttering!). Turn off the tap, and wait for it to heat up!

You need to let air in the heaters tank so the water can come out, for this reason there is a valve directly above the drain to allow air straight into the heater. If you have a late 90's heater you will see the end of the valve poking through the flue vent in the top left corner. Turn this in any direction one quarter turn and the valve will open, another quarter to shut it, on earlier models you have to remove the flue cover to get at it and so use the hot taps as Gaz says.

Lastly leave all taps open and the shower head dangling on the floor. Also very important to only loosely replace the drain bung don't screw it in, the four prongs are there to hold it in place, this way any remaining water can still drain away.

. ..but eight-legged creepy crawlies won't be able to sneek in!

Don't forget to refit the drain plug in tight before you refill the system.

Any vans up to about 3 years old, have a yellow "lever" by the hot water tank which you raise. Remember to put the lever down again before filling or you will just pull water from the aquaroll, through the system and out onto the ground again!!

PLEASE do not drain HOT water straight onto the grass, it will kill it. Run some cold through first.

Better still, take the shower head off to make sure ther's no water in it. If it freezes - it splits.
