Caravan Electrics Help

On my Elddis Avante the battery state is shown using a LED. When connected up to the car the led used to light, the fridge work and battery charge, the lights in the van also used to work.

Just been away for half term and noticed the LED goes out on connecting the 12Vs plug and nothing works in the van - not good on a five hour journey and a warming fridge.

Any ideas?

Hi Mark

Have a look at these links they explain how the car elecrical system / 7 pin "n" and "s" sockets work also fault finding.

The other items to check are relays that are fitted in most later model van, they isolate the on board caravan batery from the fridge and interior lights but allow the onboard battery to charge from the cars alternater and allow the cars electrical system to run the fridge and interior lights.

The first place to start is the "S" with the engine runing check for the 3 lives

1 charging pin 2

2 fridge pin 6

3 interior lights pin 4

these curcuits should be protected with : 1 fuses approx 25 amp

or 2fuses 15 -20 anp.
