Radio/mp3 Players

Recommended Posts

Can anyone advise me please, would it be ok to use the 12v socket, next to the tv coax socket, to provide the power for an mp3/dvd player which I hope to install in my new sterling? It is 6 amp rated. Just out of intrest, what are they originally intended for?

Thank you,

Nige. <_<

Hi Nige,

The sockets are intended for 12v accesories such as TVs.

Were you intending to plug into the socket or run a lead from the back of it?

On our Europa there is 12v available in one of the offside roof lockers. However I wanted to fit the radio in the nearside roof locker which houses the aerial cables and amp. I ran a lead from the back of the 12v socket on the sideboard to a chocolate block in the locker and then powered the radio from this through an in-line fuse. I use the radio aerial output from the Status amp.

Van is a 2002 Europa 460
