Hi Needy - We have been with MCIA for a couple of years. Good price but so far no claims to make.

Try them - Tel: 0870 3661245. or an instant quotation on-line - www. lifesure. co. uk

Good luck

Mike :)

Hello,

The only problem with insurance is, you don't know how good they are until you need them. Its not always down to price.

From that I have heared good reports about the CC insurance so I went with them.

I have however heared very bad stories about E&L so would give them a miss.

Just my 2p's worth

Scott, you have hit the nail on the head, what they do on a claim is the key so I'll start the ball rolling: We have claimed on our CC insurance. No problems, Devitts handled the claim for CC were very efficient.

I've got caravan club insurance. Caravan stolen last night (from Cassoa secure storage), now can't find any contact number for the insurance that is open before Monday morning, is this normal? Does anyone know how I can log my claim before Monday morning? What is the procedure and how long does it usually take?

The general number for CC insurance is:- 0800 028 4809 I am sure they will point you in the right direction.

PS sorry to hear of your plight and from a Cassoa site at that!

Our old van was insured with MICA and I have to say they were very prompt when we made a claim a couple of years ago, the delay was waiting for the parts to arrive with the dealer, but thats another story!

We've now changed to the CC&C simply because the premium was so much cheaper last time we renewed, saved about £60 I think.

The dearest cover tends to be with the two caravan clubs - but they are good at settling claims.

NFU (which has covered my caravan for many years) is usually much cheaper and also get good reports for claims handling (fortunately, I've never had a claim so no opportunity to put them to the test personally).

Know this might be a little late but having recently having our Elddis Typhoon XL stolen, we found that we had luckily insured with a good insurance company, namely Bakers  of Cheltenham. This was one of the more expensive quotes that we had but they were prepared to insure our van New for Old even though it was just over 5 yrs old. Claim seems to be going through fine and quickly. No waiting period to see if it turns up.

Have been advised to stay well clear of E&L.

I insure all my insurances, house contents, car's and caravan with one insurer, in this instance SAGA.

The reason is that if I have a claim, say on holiday with the caravan, everything is insured with one company, saves hastle and having to deal with more than one company. I appreciate it may cost a few pounds extra, but when my caravan was stolen some 8 years ago I had caravan with C&CC and contents with another insurer. Contents was sorted out in 4 days, caravan took 8 weeks (broker then for C&CC insurance is not the same as it is now).

Also applies even if the insurtance claim involved loss from the car as many items carried in the car are covered by your contents insurance and not the car insurance.

It may cost a few extra pounds but in m y mind it is worth it.

We chose Park Home Insurance Services Ltd as they got a good write up in one of the caravan mags. We always shop around and they were the cheapest too. Been with CC and found them a nightmare to contact (could have been a one off I suppose) so we havent considered them this time around.

Someone insured with saga reversed into my daughters car, obviously their fault and they admitted it - the car was stationary and empty at the time- but it took Saga months to sort out the claim and then only because we phoned them about twelve times. It made me decide never to use them for any sort of insurance.
