Winter Storage

Last winter we removed all the cushions from our van and kept them at home, but they take up so much space and was wondering if its ok to leave them in the van over the winter. What do you leave in the van and what do you take home when not in use over the winter months.

We are fortunate in that we can run a dehumidifier intermittently in the van, therefore we leave everything in it until we need it in January. Then we bring indoors the bedding and pillows for a couple of days airing before we go. I would suggest that you leave the cushions standing on their edges with some form of moisture trap (ie: crystals or salt) in the van.

I normally leave everything in it through the winter. A lot less hassle, and apart from being a bit cold, everything is usually nice and dry. A night with the heater on during our first easter trip has it feeling as fresh as new.

Cheers

Hi last winter we pulled out the bed slats and piled everything on top of them in the centre of the van, put quite a few trays of salt crystals out (another good moisture soaker we found was cat litter as well, but not used :) ) and everything seemed fine when we got back just took a bit of warming through for a day, this year were going to have a go at caravaning all through the winter, as we missed the van to much last winter :)
