Its nice to see the CC have got a sense of humour with this route Mark ,

pity the didn't try it with a caravan in tow ;)

perhaps someone should tell them what << and > stand for on maps

It could be ok through Sheffield if its between 1am to 4am.

if not its looking like the (long way :o ) Chesterfield way

This way is perfectly acceptable. ..the CC route is overly complicated. The main issue is going to be the traffic on the A61 as you approach Hillsborough, and particularly when at the Pizza Hut junction you will turn right through Hillsborough corner. 16:00 - 18:45 quite heavy traffic. But I have done it a number of times, as Losehill is my local escape! once you are through Hillsborough and on the A57, should have a clear run all the way to Losehill. There are no tricky hills or single track roads on this run.

Hi All,

thanks for the replys

so then, after reading the route in the hand book page 81 its either go up north 2 j36 or go south to j29 sp chestfield, this route may be less stress ful on a friday afternoon.

route 1 m1 36

route 2 south j29

then follow cc route in the hand book

what do you all think replys most welcome

thanks in advance

Hi Mark/Jayne,

Sheffield city centre is a nightmare at the moment. There are major road works from the Sheaf Street roundabout (end of Sheffield Parkway) past the railway station (Suffolk Road) onto the A61. The route through Hillsbrough will be very busy and you willl be hitting the city centre at peak time. The most direct route is from J29. It takes you on a circular route of Sheffield and 3 junctions south but then it is relatively straight forward. You will meet some traffic at the end of the dual carriageway into Chesterfield but after that you should be OK.

There are no issues with narrow roads, parking can make it tight through Hathersage and beware of the bridge just the otherside of Bamford past the petrol station, road bends left with a funny camber and cars come the other way in the middle of road.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Steve.
