Been and bought a caravan and it has a battery fixed under the seat.

When on mains hook up it charges the battery if needed?

Is this safe being inside a van what about the fumes which batteries give of when charging ?are they not explosive,i am a smoker

And the battery is under the kids bunk, cant be normal surely

thanks

Hi Meatloaf. Is the battery in a proper battery box? It should be vented to the outside world, and the fumes shouldn't be able to get inside the caravan as they are indeed VERY explosive.

Do you get to the battery through an outside door? If so, you shouldn't have any worries. Also the built-in battery charger doesn't over-charge as an independant charger might.

can hear it bubbling, when it reaches full charge does the zig stop putting power into it and switch off, also if the battery is bubbling it could be no good

Bubbling can also mean that one or more cells are down :(,

check with hydrometer etc
