:o:o

Oh no, despite high levels of TLC during our 11 months of ownership, the dreaded damp has finally registered (20%) on the damp meter in the rear top lockers and guess what, the used van warranty runs out in a fortnight. ..the rush is on to get the van in to the dealer asap!!!

Have just read Big Tim's great report on resealing his van - sounds straightforward enough but wouldn't be easy to do at our storage site and there's no chance of doing it at home. Let's hope it's not too serious.

A brief update:

Dealer has just had the van in for annual service.

Asked them to look at the damp. ..on their expensive meter it registered 45% :o all round the rear window.

Warranty (insurance) Co asked to see CRiS docs - duly faxed off.

Now awaiting visit from an engineer to assess the damage and degree of repair required.

still smiling at the moment

Well it needed 20 hrs of repair work, including removal from the inside of all rear panel components, wardrobe, cupboards, sink etc, thorough drying out and rebuild of interior frame before resealing & refit of insulation, panels & furniture.

Source of the damp was traced to a leak around the high-level brake light, could have been leaking for ages before it became apparent.

Nice quality repair, looks & feels good as new. ..I'll be keeping the damp meter handy for a bit though!

Sorry to hear of your damp problems - wasn't a 98 model was it. Only without wishing to be in any way negative about this keep your damp meter handy. My 98 model was effectively written off in 2002 due to damp in all of the nearside ( put down to that side being the one that goes through all the road side puddles) . Glad though you have had yours repaired
