Axel Stands

hi all another bit of advice required. We intend to put the caravan on blocks or axle stands over the winter so we can take the weight off the tyres and suspension ( but leave the wheel lock on ) and be able to turn the wheels every couple of weeks ( yes we will take the locks off 1st )

But if we jack up on the axle as close to the wheel as possible we won't be able to get the blocks / stands close the wheels for the jacks

or are we doing this all wrong ?

thanks toanda

I use a trolley jack at the scissor jacking points to fit the stands under the van so the weight is off the axle.

why jack close to the wheel then? move the jack further inboard to allow space for the axle stands . ..simples - as that irritating rat would say

Fit Al-Ko side lift jack (Which is the safest and simples way to jack up the 'van)

Then slip the axle stand underneath - simples and simples, or if you have a twin axle simples, simples, simples and simples.

Problem solved - simples.

BO the simples.

If you do not have the ALKO jacking brackets fitted you can jack the van using the axle plate immediately behind the wheel where the axle comes through the chassis & then place the stands under the axle tube. or jack under the axle tube & place the stands under the axle plate

If you do use a side jack do have the car attached first.

Then place the stands under the axle plate if you want the weight off the axle.

I nearly got a Rolls Royce for my wife. That would have been a good swap.

Apologies for thread drift!
