Aldi Voltage Tester

Recommended Posts

There always seems to be a couple of threads current about fridges and towing sockets. This little fella might help diagnose some issues for those of you who don't have a multimeter. Available at some Aldis from 16th October.

Good luck. :)

They seem to have a good selection on 20th as well. How do they do it?

Little gem that at such a cheap price.

Not sure if this is such a good option for those trying to set a switching point on a smartcom etc. as it would appear from the picture that it will display the fact that a voltage is present rather than a readout of the actual voltage. A cheap multimeter from Maplin etc would suit better.

But, if you want to know something is there, I agree it appears to be a good buy.

  • Rated voltage range: 3. 5-400V
  • 230V
  • Battery and function test
  • LED display

It must show something on the LED display.

Can you get 3. 5 volt AC?

By the looks of it the LED display is just that, 2 LED's, one red & one green rather than a 7 segment LED display. It is likely that one of the LED's will indicate a voltage is present, the other will be for the battery / function test.

Yes you could get 3. 5 volt AC, if you use the correctly wound trandformer :)

The proof will be revealed when they appear in store.

A cheap multi meter is the best bet, its accuracy not being too important for general checks. I do realise that if you want to check battery volts accurately however you do need a reasonable multi meter as the range of volts from full to discharged is small.
