Hi

hoping to head for Europe in May, does anyone have any suggestions for peaceful small caravan sites in Luxembourg?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

You could try this site, Campingpark Freibad Echternacherbruck, Germany.

Very good site 15 miles north of Tier on the German / Luxembourg border. Cross the bridge (100 yards) you are into Luxembourg. This area is called the "Little Switzerland of Luxembourg" with plenty of good walking & cycling trails. We were lucky and had a riverside pitch saved for us, by a German couple!! however in peak times they do charge extra. The town of Echternach is very nice with plenty of cafe's in the market place. We spent all our time in Luxembourg, good supermarket at the top end of the town, also a good cycle path to the Mosel river, a 30 mile round trip. Visit September 2010.

We stayed at the Camping de Moulin in Vianden in May this year. Excellent ACSI site, wonderful town (considered by many as the jewel of Luxembourg) castle, chairlift, riverside restaurants and lots to see in the area. (Dont miss the Battle of the Bulge museum at Diekerch).

Frankly we found ALL of Luxembourg peaceful compared to many destinations - even went into Luxembourg City on a saturday to the big flower market. ..parked right at the market no problems.

Fuel at 2/3 UK price. ...what more can I say. We will be passing that way again next year.

Can also recommend the Luxembourg Camping Club site at Kockelscheuer, just like a club site in the UK! If you stay a week and are over 60 the fees are reduced by 50% plus EHU. Bus right outside site into city centre, 1E50 each way.

  • 2 weeks later...

While Camping Freibad at Echternacherbruck is in an ideal location it is not the place to go if you want a small peaceful campsite. The site accomodates well over 500 tourers and that's before you factor in the statics. Additionally in summer there is on site entertainment which includes twice weekly discos. Take your earplugs.

Prumtal in May is not overcrowded and is excellent as I said before.
