Route For North Devon

Which route is best for North Devon? Looking to travel early summer 2012,possibly early June so schools not yet on holiday.

Travelling Saturday morning 10AM and driving half way to Tewkesbury for overnight stay. Then continue onwards Sunday morning 10Am to CC Site Lakeside, Dulverton TA22 9BE.

So not in any hurry, only looking for most straight forward route.

We both share the Towing and have opted for the overnight stay as we are travelling with our Westie and we also take our cat as well.

Look forward to your experiences and advice on route.

We are picking up our caravan from our storage Site at Thirsk.

Cheers M

I would suggest A1 - A1M - M18 - M1 - A42 - M42 - M5 to Junct 27 then Google says A361 to Tiverton and right onto the A396.

I can only vouch for the m/way section which is nice and steady but beware of cross winds on the motorway bridge over the Avon between junctions 18 and 19

Hi,when you get near to Dulverton you MUST go by the directions in the CC site book as there are very narrow road.

The A 361 off the M5 is a very good road with crawler lanes on hills. but as said above follow directions in CC book to site.

When you turn off the A361 North Devon link road turn right onto the A396 AND follow the CC directions.

You do not go as far as Dulverton, Exebridge is approx two miles south of Dulverton. It will take you approx 15-20 minutes at most to reach the site from the turn off on the A361.

Nothing to do with your original question, but where is your storage in Thirsk?

We live not far away from there.
