Changing From Microswitched To Pressure Switched Water System

Recommended Posts

I am contemplating a caravan with microswitched water pumps operated from the taps.

I rather like the whale pressurised water system. It seems straight forward enough

what do I need to replace? I want either a Protex 10ltr. electric water heater in the

system as well, (or a Truma-therme)

You just have to fit a pressure switch, an accumulator is also worth fitting.

Possibly also a check valve.

Last year the tap on my friends 5 year old Swift started to leak when we were in France

We couldn't source locally a micro switch tap bur were advised to go to the nearby DIY/Builders Merchants

They had an identical tap as fitted by Swift but not with micro switch so needs must and we fitted one but used a switch for on/off water

After returning to UK we acquired an in line pressure switch and accumulator

Looking at my system (in order to repair it); you'd need a pressure switch and non return valve. Put the valve in line from the pump, before the pressure switch.

I don't know what the accumulator is mentioned above, but my system has a small circuit board which drives the pump. This seems to keep the pump runing a second or two after the switch turns off, presumably to stop the switch bouncing.

The accumulator is an inline unit that smooths out the water pressure as shown in this link
