Ilam Hall Nt Caravan Site - Derbyshire

Recommended Posts

Just wondered if anyone had been, looks quite a nice site from what I can tell. I think it used to be a CC club site but not anymore - anyone know why?

Never stayed on it but seen it few times. Lovely setting but quite narrow lanes leading to it and a lot of cars going to Dovedale along that stretch.

Doesnt have any Toilets etc.

Coachman Pastiche tugged by Mazda CX-7, Wine supplied by Sainsburys & sunday Times wine Club.

I think I read that there are toilets but just off site at the NT buildings. ...I've never been so don't know where that is in relation to the site.

I stayed there when it was a CC site and it was very pleasant. The NT wanted most of the space of the site for a car park and what was left was not a viable site in the opinion of the CC.

Ah so that's what happened. ..so the site is much smaller than it used to be under the CC banner?

Stayed there many years ago, and as previously said, it is now small, about a 1/4 its original size, I would not be reliant on the loo situation, if you have your own facilities then I would suggest you use them. It can be noisy some week ends, with patrons using the adjacent carpark, but does become quiet after dusk. Road into site can be a bit of a struggle especially if you have a large outfit

Latterly in CC days it was run by volunteer wardens. It's a few years since I was there last.

Been loads of times in fact my pic was taken there.

they allow caravans and motorhomes only no tents

It is a NT site with electric, water and waste points, the wardens are volunteers and keep the site very tidy and will help with pitching you can order bread, milk etc and it will be delivered the next day.

The site is really quiet, but there are loads of walks direct from the site.

The best thing is Irlam Hall building is an YHA and has a 5 star restaurant, what is not advertised is they allow none residents to use the bar and book a table in the restaurant.

There are no toilets on the site just the public 1's, these are not suitable as they are about 200 yards from the site and are not the most pleasant of place to use.
