Does anyone have any experience with rodent deterants good or otherwise. I have read about and will try the jeys fluid solution, but I'm also considering some others. All advice would be greatly appriciated.

In order to stop rodents, take out the BBQ and everything else that has any kind of food content. We had a problem when I left the BBQ in the front of the van.

You can get electronic deterents but not sure if they work. I have one and have not had a problem since installing it.

I use a plugged in electronic deterent in my caravan while on the drive as I live in a forest and have a lot of field mice but never had a problem with it left on .

Reminds me of the song

There was an Old Lady

There was an old lady who swallowed a fly

I don't know why she swallowed a fly - perhaps she'll die!

There was an old lady who swallowed a spider,

That wriggled and wiggled and tiggled inside her;

She swallowed the spider to catch the fly;

I don't know why she swallowed a fly - Perhaps she'll die!

There was an old lady who swallowed a bird;

How absurd to swallow a bird.

She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,

She swallowed the spider to catch the fly;

I don't know why she swallowed a fly - Perhaps she'll die!

There was an old lady who swallowed a cat;

Fancy that to swallow a cat!

She swallowed the cat to catch the bird,

She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,

She swallowed the spider to catch the fly;

I don't know why she swallowed a fly - Perhaps she'll die!

There was an old lady that swallowed a dog;

What a hog, to swallow a dog;

She swallowed the dog to catch the cat,

She swallowed the cat to catch the bird,

She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,

She swallowed the spider to catch the fly;

I don't know why she swallowed a fly - Perhaps she'll die!

There was an old lady who swallowed a cow,

I don't know how she swallowed a cow;

She swallowed the cow to catch the dog,

She swallowed the dog to catch the cat,

She swallowed the cat to catch the bird,

She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,

She swallowed the spider to catch the fly;

I don't know why she swallowed a fly - Perhaps she'll die!

There was an old lady who swallowed a horse. ..

She's dead, of course!

As an ex pest control officer in my experience there are no magic electronics, potions, lotions, or spells to keep vermin out, just good house keeping. Carefully remove all sources of food including crumbs, and do not rely on them being left in sealed plastic storage containers, you wiould be suprised at the keen sense of smell they have, and what rats and mice teeth will chew through. Finally carefully block off any openings/holes leading into the interior of your caravan. Please use FINE WIRE MESH, and a staple gun NEVER SEAL THESE HOLES WITH SOLID MATERIAL, as most holes will be left by the manufacturer for ventilation or to allow propane gas to vent should you have a leak or leave a cooker light on by mistake. If i can help further please ask.

Apparently mice don't like the smell of mint. I had the ***** in one caravan over winter and good old mouse traps seemed to do the trick!

Ever thought of a shotgun! Then some filler to fill the little holes in the van when you have used it!

Thats odd, i use mint chocolate as bait to catch them, mice love chocolate.

I have recently caught a couple of mice with this trap, baited with after eight, mint chocolate.

But i caught over a dozen with this type.

http://www. diy. com/d. ..__mouse_control sorry this may be for rats only, but its that sort of trap, not the cheap wood ones.

Same bait.

It was online somewhere I read that :blink: but just ended up going for the traps and visiting the caravan as regular as possible. No real damage thank God, just alot of mess for tiny mice to make :angry:

It was my fault though, I didn't realise i'd left a bad of dry dog food in one of the drawers and I assume that attracted them as that's where most of the mess was :huh: I think mice will eat anything.

Using deterrents alone is just asking for trouble get some traps inside, I have 4 all year round although biggest threat is sub zero conditions.

Assume that they will get in and go for them once in.

This happened to us a while back.

Forget poison, dead mice somewhere that you can't get to them is bad news as they 'honk' big time.

In the winter, I also put 3 or 4 traps underneath the van and each time I visit, weekly now, 2 or 3 are 'occupied'.

Our van is stored at an outside location surrounded by fields.

It is CaSSOA Gold for what it's worth having supposed vermin control in place.

 Stay safe ~ Griff    :ph34r:
