I don't know for definate but looking at some makers website, they both have different part numbers for estate and saloon.

My Saab 9-3 shares the same towbar across the saloon, convertible and estate and shares the insignia platform

A quick look at the PF Jones site shows the same part numbers for the insignia hatch / estate for their flange towbars

all tho the towbars are the same, the electrics are different, for example on the tourer when you open the tailgate with the lights on, they turn of in the tailgate and lights in the boot shut come on! if its non dedicated kit (smart relay) then this can be used, the only colour wire that is different on the car is fog

You're right, the tourer uses a different wiring kit

on the plus side, it's £40 cheaper than the Saloon version!

You will have to check for any signs of rust as the towbar is now checked as part of the MOT and it might need a clean and paint . Next year 2012 the Electrics are to be checked as part of the MOT also .

Nyloc nuts will also need to be replaced and star washers/spring washers these have a limited user life .

From what i've read, only 13 pin electrics will be tested and towbars checked for 'inappropriate modifications', damage or loose / worn parts.

Worth remembering though that a car would fail an MOT now if it had serious rust around any of the towbar mounting points so this improves on that

Can only be a good thing!
