Hi everyone i know this is a common question. I have a driving licence which i passed after 1997 and have the new style b entitlement with the restriction to the towing outfit being under 3500kg and the caravan mtplm not being more that the unladen cars weight. I have a 2003 ford mondeo 2. 0tdci with agross weight of 1596kg and a mam of 2005. My caravan is a 1999 abbey vougue gts 516 with an unladen weight 1190kg and a mtplm of 1300kg. So on this basis the car being 2005kg mam and the van being 1300 mtplm that is a gross train weight of 3305kg so i work it out i can tow but it just confuses me. Thanks for anyones help:-)

As said you are legal if your Train weight (Caravan + car) is under 3500kg and the MTPLM of the caravan (1300kg)in your case is under the unladen weight of tow car .

Caravan at maximum weight is les than the cars minimum weight. The total of the two maximum weights is less than 3500kg and is also less than the Mondeos maximum train weight. So all, perfectly legal.
