Have You Got Ice On Your Mobile ?

Recommended Posts

"In the case of an emergency would the police or ambulance service know who to contact?

Simply type ICE plus a contact name and number into your mobile and help us to help you."

All credit to the East Anglian Ambulance Service for this brainwave.

Thanks, heard about this on the radio, then promptly forgot!

Have done it now, made three entries, ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3, that way you can cover several options landlines, mobiles etc. .....

NB - not much immediate use if your mobile is PIN locked; may lead to a delay in getting the info.

Apart from that, an excellent and laudable idea.

"Bob Brotchie, a clinical team leader for the East Anglian Ambulance NHS Trust, hatched the plan last year after struggling to get contact details from shocked or injured patients."

"The campaign was launched this week by Bob and Falklands war hero Simon Weston in association with Vodafone’s annual Life Savers Awards. "

see the Press Release for more details.

Updated ICE website now available too

and there's nothing wrong with a good, old-fashioned piece of cardboard with genuine writing on it in your wallet/purse/handbag either :PB)

Very good idea.

I’m allergic to anaesthetic and morphine so I wear an SOS Talisman bracelet. Doing this will add another safeguard.

I've put ICE [my wife's name] (Wife)

I think it would be easier for the Emergency services and the person they are calling if they know the "patients" relationship to the contact.

Just a thought.

If your mobile is PIN locked you CAN display an ICE message :

Nokia - personalise and rename your Profile to "ICE-12345678901"

Ericcson - create a note of "ICE-12345678901" and show in standby

others - create a screen saver with your ICE details

not forgetting to substitute your own number for 12345678901 :P

This is on the face of it a good idea but if you have 2 entries with the same number. e. g. ICE 12345678 and Wife 12345678 and your wife rings you the phone will only show the number and not the caller's name.

I would bet that everyone has "home" as an entry in their phone anyway.

Why do you need 2 entries. Why not

ICE - mrs wildkat - Wife 12345678 or

ICE - home 12345678

I've changed the profile name to ICE

All the above took less than 2 minutes to set up and at no cost. It may just help. we have been instructed to set our work mobiles with an ICE contact.

2 entries because if I want to dial Home then I'll look for it under "H" not "I" similarly if I want my wife I'll look under "K" (her initial) not "I".

Other than this it seems a good idea though.
